Sahara Service Organization

SSO was founded through discussions between a Peace Corps Volunteer and members of her community.

The rich culture of this region with its unique combination of Berber and Arab cultures, majestic desert scenery and verdant oases, and the incredible kindness and generosity of its inhabitants merits sharing with others. Far from the extravagant concerts and shopping malls of Rabat and Casablanca, the Tafilalt region is one of the poorest and least-developed in Morocco and that is where SSO comes into play.

We provide volunteers with the opportunity to live and learn from the distinct and vibrant culture of this region while giving back through a variety of service projects which will leave a lasting impact on both the community and the volunteer.
