***Brief History Behind a great Alma-mater
Around 120 years ago, even there was not a single primary school roundabout 10 miles of Chandra Bazaar. Understanding the value of education and its necessity, an educationist also a social worker Mr. Babu Adinath Roy Chowdhury of Sokdi Rampur village took a valiant initiative to setup an education centre at his house yard in 1882. Therefore he established a primary school in 1882. An enormous response from guardian and admission of their children to this primary school from the local community inspired Mr. Babu Adinath Roy Chowdhury take further step.
In 1902 he shifted this primary school near to Chandra Bazaar at the bank of the Dakatia river and promoted it to mid level English school. Mr. Babu Rebati Mohan De took the charge of head master at first. Day by day the no. of students had been increasing. Within a few years this school enrolled to the Government list and got tk. 55 monthly as Govt. grant. That was the turning point and the only one institution got the pace with economic sustainability.

Later, understanding the widespread value of education and to spread the power of knowledge among all classes, local philanthropist and educationist took the ultimate step united to promote it as a high school.
Therefore in 1918 the Chandra English High School was established by the magnanimous personalities such as Late Mr. Imam Ali Patowary, Karim Box Patowary, Hamid Ali Mizi, Gobinda Chandra Saha Roy, Soshi Vushon Roy Chowdhury, Babu Krisnho Kumar Sharma. Babu Rohini Nath took the responsibility as headmaster first.
In 1922 first batch sat for matriculation exam under then Kolkata University where no. of examinees was 11 and 9 examinees came out successfully with division.
In 1923 another philanthropist from Sokdi Rampur village Late Mr. Karim Box Patowary donated 2 bighas land to this School charitably to expand its area. He was a nephew of Late Mr. Imam Ali Patowary. To remember the noble contribution of his uncle “Late Mr. Imam Ali Patowary” the name of Chandra English High School converted to Chandra Imam Ali High School.
In 1928 the no. of students was 184 where 97 Muslims and 87 Hindus.
In 1929 monthly tk.125 granted by the then Govt. for this school. Between 1939 to 1945 due to 2nd world war and riot between Hindu –Muslims, Many scholars and teachers left this school and rushed to the India, therefore activities of this school was static.
Finally from 1960 revolution was occurred unprecedentedly to this institution due to its academic result, co curricular activities and standard of teaching.
In 1964 this school enrolled under Comilla Education Board (CEB) and commerce group was introduced in the same year.
This year was also a milestone for this institution because 4 girls admitted to this school with a backup from the managing committee members especially vice president Late Mr. Zulfo Mia Patowary.
In 1965 science group was introduced. Same year Govt. allocated tk82000 for this school to improve the infrastructure and to establish new buildings, Science lab and to buy furniture. Therefore it became matured and got the momentum finally.
In 1970 the no. of girls student was 200 in this institution. A loud speaker locally known as Maik was bought by the teachers and students donation.

In 1971 another milestone for this school was to secure an unprecedented result by the students with 4 board stand and 3 stars in SSC exam.
In 1972 Shahid Miner was constructed at west-south corner of this school to remember the sacred memory of language martyrdom and to celebrate 21st February officially.
In 1998 College section was added with science, arts and commerce groups.

There were 11 sector and subsector where 11 sector and sub-sector commander and fortunately 2 were the former students of this School. Teachers, Students and Guardians of Chandra Imam Ali high School had a great contribution in the 71’s liberation war actively. Particularly Sector Commander Lt. Col. (retired) Abu Osman Chowdhury (sector no.8) was a former student of this School who declared Kustia free from Pak Army in December. Col.(retired) BAZLUL GANI PATOWARY former students of this school also lead the liberation war as a sub-sector commander. Many known and unknown took martyrdom to free our beloved motherland from the occupation of Pakistanis. Martyr Shahid Ulla and Aminul Haque especially remembered for their supreme sacrifice for our country.

This Institution facilitates students from class six to SSC and in College section HSC all groups. Currently more than 1500 students in school section and 600 students in College section. Teachers in school section are about 20 and staff more than 6. Details information will provide very shortly.
