Designed by French architect Michel Pinseau, the walls and columns of the inside are delicately carved in a variety of mixed designs bringing to mind the Moorish architecture
The constructions of the Hassan II Mosque began in July 1986 to Finish on August 1993
Over 10,000 Moroccan master craftsmen and artisans were employed to carry out the decorations that embellish the entire structure and finish the work in only six years
Nearly all the materials of the Hassan II Mosque are from Morocco, The marble is from Agadir, the cedar wood from the Middle Atlas and the granite comes from the south.
The building was designed to resist earthquakes and has a heated floor and electric doors. Above an automated sliding roof opens to the sky.
Mesuring more than 200 meters , the great mosque's minaret is the highest in the world. At night, a laser beam shine from the top of the minaret toward Mecca and reach 30 KM
With two enormious women's galleries on the two sides of the prayer room, which is beautifully carved. Downstairs there is a whole space full of fountains for Ablution and Turkish and Moroccan-style baths
The Hassan II Mosque is open to all Muslims at daily prayer times. Non-Muslim visitors may enter the mosque on guided tours, which take place several times a day in different languages.
